The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Principal Investigator, (PI), Michael Birnbaum, M.D., whose research aims to understand the role of online services in improving psychosis identification and intervention efforts. The Peer Specialist role will interact with, and provide time-limited support to, youth enrolled in an NIMH-funded clinical trial over text message.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include data coordination and project management effort as follows:
35% - Interact with youth who score above threshold on an online mental health screener via text message following protocol-specific requirements.
35% - Provide support to youth who have mental health questions or concerns via text message.
10% - Refer and facilitate connection to a Research Rater who can perform a clinical assessment.
10% - Participate in the conceptualization and development of digital strategies designed to advance help-seeking.
5% - Enter clinical research data into appropriate fields. In addition to organizing and maintaining data files
5% - Performs related duties & responsibilities as assigned/requested.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Completion or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with research involving youth and young adults.
- Experience with research involving early psychosis.
- Experience with REDCap.
- The successful candidate will possess a high level of initiative and creativity, clear communication skills, and a high degree of organization.
- The successful candidate will possess the ability to anticipate obstacles, problem-solve, and manage problems as part of a team.
Other Requirements
- Personal lived experience with mental illness.
- Ability to make and carry out decisions independently.
- Dedicated to team building and collaboration.
- Experience with research and research training, including data collection and data entry.
