Workforce Development Council of Seattle - King County is seeking a Data Engineer to contribute to the mission of system transformation and racial equity in workforce development by supporting our data integration, transformation, and visualization efforts. The ideal candidate will have experience with scalable ETL processes, Azure Data Factory, and data warehousing, with additional skills in SSIS being a plus.


The Data Engineer will be a highly resourceful team player who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under time constraints, while remaining flexible, proactive, and efficient. This individual will have the ability to exercise good judgment in a variety of situations, with strong written and verbal communication, administrative, and organizational skills, and the ability to maintain strategic balance among multiple priorities.


This position is primarily remote with occasional on-site work required in our Seattle office.


Some of the Key Responsibilities of the Data Engineer:

  1. Work closely with stakeholders to make high-quality datasets available to consumers in a timely manner.
  2. Develop scalable data ETL pipelines that automate manual data processes, optimize data delivery, and adhere to privacy and governance principles.
  3. Implement and manage data warehousing solutions and ensure data integrity and quality through rigorous testing and validation.
  4. Build tooling and implement systems to overcome limitations of the data consumption portals when appropriate.
  5. Implement and maintain data security practices to ensure data privacy and protection, and compliance with data governance policies and regulations.
  6. Engage in continuous learning and professional development on the latest ETL processing techniques and technologies.
  7. Other duties as assigned.

What the successful Data Engineer will have:

  1. Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent (at least 2 years of professional experience, in Data Analytics, Computer Science, or equivalent).
  2. Experience in building data pipelines to serve reporting needs.
  3. Ability to effectively communicate complex projects to non-technical stakeholders.
  4. 1+ years of experience with Cloud data Warehouses.
  5. 1+ years of experience working with Cloud Technologies (Azure preferred).
  6. 2+ years of experience working in Python, SQL, and relational databases.
  7. Knowledge of Cloud Infrastructure and services including Azure Data Factory (ADF), Azure Synapse, Power BI, and Azure Data Lake storage.

Compensation Range:

  1. $95,000 to $110,000 annually, DOE

Workforce Development Council of Seattle - King County has outstanding benefits including:
