Job Description:

  • Developing project documentation and supporting drawing construction, and procurements

  • Working with OCSS team to ensure project requirements are achieved

  • Support Testing of OCSS hardware including Orion Crew Survival Suit, Emergency Breathing Oxygen Systems, Pressure Systems, Survival Equipment, etc

  • Support buildup of Ground Service Equipment Buildup and periodic re-calibration

  • Data analysis of OCSS Hardware Qualification Test Results

  • Assist project management and Project Engineers with Scheduling of laboratory technical personnel for Human in the Loop testing and OCSS Qualification testing, Pre-Delivery/Installation Acceptance Testing

  • Development of test procedures including working with various organizations for flight certification of hardware

  • Develop presentations pursuant to test results, anomalies and finding concerning OCSS hardware

  • Work in a team environment and report to project management to provide status on progress and issues related to support of the OCSS NASA customer

Required Education/Experience:

  • BS degree in engineering from an accredited engineering school and a minimum of five (5) years of direct engineering experience

-or

  • a MS degree from an accredited engineering school and four (4) years of direct engineering experience

-or

  • Ph.D. degree and zero (0) years direct engineering experience

Required Experience/Skills:

  • Experience with the development of requirements documents including functional requirements and verification success criteria

  • Experience with the design, assembly, verification, testing, and operation of Space system hardware. Prior experience in pressure, oxygen systems, suit systems would be considered a bonus

  • Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures in the space hardware field, such as mechanical and electrical system design, engineering drawings and sketches, material selection, Electronic Document System and design software and tools

  • Ability to prepare written documents and to verbally present at various meetings

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products

  • Experience with NASA flight processes including Class I/II/III hardware

Desired Skills:

  • Previous experience in designing and building unique hardware

  • Previous testing experience

  • Familiarity with machine shop techniques and processing hardware through the manufacturing process.

  • Ability to perform hands on test buildup, data processing, and documentation including test plans and reports

  • Ability to work independently
