Job Overview:
We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Pre-Construction Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a key role in the early stages of project development, providing accurate cost estimates and supporting the pre-construction planning process. This position requires a deep understanding of construction methodologies, materials, and labor costs.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough analysis of project plans and specifications to prepare comprehensive cost estimates.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to gather necessary data for bids and proposals.
- Evaluate material, labor, and equipment requirements for proposed projects.
- Research and analyze historical cost data to accurately predict project costs.
- Prepare and present cost estimates, budgets, and proposals to senior management and clients.
- Assist in value engineering efforts to optimize project costs without compromising quality.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of construction market trends, materials, and subcontractor capabilities.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits as necessary.
- Provide support during the transition from pre-construction to construction phases.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and industry standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Proven experience as an estimator or cost planner in the construction industry.
- Proficiency in construction estimating software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, CostX).
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with building codes, regulations, and permitting processes.
- Experience with design-build projects is a plus.
