Senior Scientist - Cell-Based and Molecular Biology Services

Location: Boston, MA

About My Client: My client is a leading bioanalytical Contract Research Organization (CRO) dedicated to delivering projects with unmatched quality, scientific rigor, and efficiency. With a robust history of over 30 years in the industry, they excel in the development, qualification, and validation of pharmacokinetics (PK), biomarker, and immunogenicity assays. Known for their flexibility and rapid response to evolving project needs, my client operates in both Non-GLP and GLP environments. They pride themselves on timely results, open communication, and a collaborative approach, working closely with clients to expedite the delivery of essential drugs and therapies.

Position Overview: My client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Scientist to join their Cell-Based and Molecular Biology team at their Boston lab. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in both cell-based assays and molecular biology techniques, including qPCR and dPCR. This role will involve working directly with clients, designing and validating assays, and utilizing state-of-the-art equipment to support various projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cell-Based Assays:
  • Design, develop, and validate cell-based assays, including receptor-ligand binding assays, agonist/antagonist screening, proliferation/inhibition assessments, and cytotoxicity studies.
  • Conduct assays for mechanism of action studies, T-cell stimulation, phagocytosis, and cellular immunogenicity.
  • Perform assessments related to CAR-T and viral vector membrane proteins, drug uptake, target engagement, and viral infectivity.

  • Molecular Biology:
  • Develop and validate molecular assays using qPCR, dPCR, and next-generation sequencing (NGS) techniques.
  • Oversee evaluations of DNA or RNA therapeutics, including biodistribution and vector shedding.
  • Conduct gene expression analysis, biomarker assessments, and quantification of transgenes for gene and cell therapies.

  • Client Interaction:
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, providing updates on project progress and addressing any concerns.
  • Collaborate with clients to tailor assays and services to meet their specific needs.

  • Technical Expertise:
  • Utilize equipment and technologies such as Quantum Studios, dpCR, and Flow Cytometry to perform and analyze assays.
  • Maintain and optimize laboratory systems and equipment.

  • Team Collaboration:
  • Work closely with internal teams, including Principal Investigators and analysts, to ensure project success.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior staff and contribute to team development.

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field.
  • 5-6 years of experience in cell-based assays and molecular biology, with a strong background in qPCR and dPCR techniques.
  • Proven expertise in developing, qualifying, and validating PK, biomarker, and immunogenicity assays.
  • Hands-on experience with advanced laboratory equipment and technologies, including Flow Cytometry and Quantum Studios.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interact effectively with clients.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative approach to project management.
