Senior Manager, Benefits (AMERICAS)
San Mateo, CA (hybrid*)

The Senior Benefits Manager is responsible for overseeing the design, administration, and communication of employee benefits programs for the Americas region (USA, Canada and Latin America), reporting to the Director, Global Benefits. This role will partner with internal and external stakeholders to optimize and continuously improve the benefits offerings, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. This position will also be responsible for diverse duties to support multiple locations, including interacting with all levels of employees and management enterprise wide.

What You'll be Doing:

  1. Benefits Program Management
    1. Oversee the design, implementation, and administration of health, welfare, retirement, and wellness programs within the Americas region (USA, Canada, Latin America).
    2. Evaluate existing benefit programs to ensure competitiveness and alignment with global benefits philosophy and company goals.
    3. Develop and implement strategies to enhance employee engagement and understanding of benefit offerings.
    4. Manage & participate in benchmark surveys to secure relevant market data to inform market competitive analyses and design recommendations.
    5. Be an escalation point for employee benefits questions and issues.
  2. Leadership & Team Management
    1. Lead, mentor, and develop a team of direct and indirect reports.
    2. Set team goals, monitor performance, and foster professional growth.
    3. Ensure smooth daily operations of the benefits team and manage workload distribution.
  3. Vendor Management
    1. Manage relationships with external vendors, brokers, and consultants.
    2. Monitor vendor performance to ensure high-quality service delivery and cost efficiency.
    3. Lead negotiations for renewals and RFP processes as needed.
    4. Manage new & existing vendor contracts, partnering with internal departments such as legal, procurement and finance.
  4. Compliance & Reporting
    1. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws, including HIPAA, ERISA, COBRA, Health & Welfare 5500 filings, annual legal notices and non-discrimination testing, etc.
    2. Oversee audits and reporting requirements for all benefit programs.
    3. Maintain accurate documentation and records for regulatory purposes.
  5. Strategic Planning & Analysis
    1. Partner with the Global Benefits Director and senior leadership to align benefits strategy with organizational objectives.
    2. Conduct cost analyses, forecasting, and reporting on benefit trends to support decision-making.
    3. Research market trends and recommend new programs or changes to current programs to remain competitive.
  6. Employee Communication & Education
    1. Develop communication strategies to ensure employees understand and utilize benefit programs.
    2. Conduct training sessions, open enrollment, and ongoing communication campaigns.
  7. Budget Management
    1. Manage the benefits fringe calculations and budget in partnership with Finance to ensure cost-effective program management while maintaining competitive offerings.

What We're Looking for:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; or equivalent career experience will be considered.
  2. 8+ years of experience in benefits management, with at least 3 years in a leadership or people management role.
  3. 5 years' experience administering and designing Canadian and Latin-American benefits programs.
  4. Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations related to employee benefits.
  5. Proven experience managing benefit vendors and negotiating contracts.
  6. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  7. Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  8. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  9. Ability to flourish in a team environment; as well as work independently.
  10. Solution driven using creative and diverse ways to approach a problem or answer a question.
  11. Excellent Microsoft Office skills - specifically MS Excel.
  12. Experience using Workday preferred!

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role's base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
