About the Role

WeaveGrid is seeking a People Team Lead to lead its people operations and recruiting functions. You will support employees, enhance the employee experience, and enable our team to drive decarbonization at the intersection of transportation and energy. You will be critical in building a diverse and inclusive culture, prioritizing accountability, collaboration, focus, urgency, empathy, and learning.

As the leader of a team of committed people operations and recruiting professionals, you will be responsible for furthering the company’s people and recruiting strategy, as well as engaging with employees and company leadership across a range of people and recruiting matters. You will leverage data to make strategic decisions and implement best practices in employee retention, compensation, performance management, employee relations, compliance, DEI, sourcing, and hiring. You will manage projects and own key tasks yourself. This position reports to the General Counsel & VP Administration.

The People Team Lead position is based in the San Francisco Bay Area and requires working at least three days per week in WeaveGrid’s San Francisco office.

Responsibilities

  1. Lead the people operations and recruiting team.
  2. Serve as a culture carrier, promoting the evolution of a company culture that inspires and includes employees. Advocate and live out company values.
  3. Lead strategy and execution of compensation philosophy and performance reviews.
  4. Oversee company-level feedback cycles, including regular pulse surveys and ensuring actionable follow-up.
  5. Manage the recruiting function, including adopting best practices, sourcing diverse talent, leveraging data, and tracking key metrics.
  6. Foster alignment and build consensus around key People initiatives across both employees and leadership.
  7. Oversee HRIS functionality and harmonize data integration across HR platforms.
  8. Support manager training and development by providing feedback and coaching on performance, including informal feedback, coaching plans, and improvement strategies.
  9. Develop and implement HR policies and procedures.
  10. Proactively engage employees and manage ongoing employee relations matters.
  11. Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, in collaboration with the company’s legal counsel.
  12. Manage annual benefit selection and administration.
  13. Lead WeaveGrid’s DEI initiatives.
  14. Special projects and other duties as designated by your manager or assigned designee.

About You

You are a mission-driven leader committed to decarbonization and building a better company for employees. You are comfortable in a startup environment where things move quickly, both planning and flexibility are needed, and initiative is critical. You can balance multiple projects while being detail-oriented and maintaining compliance. You are prepared to implement best practices and lead by example.

Qualifications

  1. Experience leading people and recruiting functions, ideally at a high-growth startup.
  2. Experienced with compensation and benefits best practices, including data-driven approaches, leveling, and employee stock options.
  3. Adept at employee performance management, including leading performance reviews and supporting both managers and employees to achieve their potential.
  4. Whiz with HRIS and employee data management - familiarity with Lattice, Okta, and Carta a plus.
  5. Track record of fostering a strong company culture around a common mission and set of values.
  6. Implemented or knowledgeable of DEI best practices.
  7. Experience managing payroll and administering benefits through a PEO.
  8. Experience presenting to and engaging company leadership informally and formally via slides, presentations, and 1:1s.
  9. Experience managing full lifecycle recruiting, including active and passive sourcing.
  10. Experience in employee orientation and commitment to supporting employees while driving WeaveGrid’s growth.
  11. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, including a bias for proactive communications.
  12. Practical knowledge of employment law and HR compliance.
  13. SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or SPHR a plus.
  14. Strong interest in climate and climate technology.

The total compensation for this opportunity includes a base salary range of $155,000-$185,000, plus equity (stock options) and benefits. This is our target compensation range and is subject to multiple factors, including role, level, experience, and location. As you go through our interview process, our recruiter will work with you to identify a competitive base salary within the proposed range and combine it with an equity package to get you excited about your future at WeaveGrid.
