Position Summary
The responsibilities of the Director of Sales will oversee and manage sales staff to ensure maximum revenue promotional coverage and marketing opportunities are achieved. The DOS will work closely with revenue management to develop strategies to maximize REVPAR and grow market share. The DOS is additionally responsible for staying ahead of market trends, market share movement and ongoing competitive hotel analysis.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time benefit eligible position. This position typically works during business hours on Monday through Friday. Weekends and/or Holidays may be required as business needs warrant.
Essential Job Functions
- Understand market conditions and provide leadership to maximize opportunities for revenue growth from new and current customer base as well as competitors in the market.
- Conduct direct sales activities and solicit all existing and new accounts to achieve or exceed budgeted rooms revenue and improve the overall performance of the hotel.
- Develop superior knowledge of the marketplace and competitors, as well as market conditions which might affect revenues.
- Establish, nurture and maintain positive customer relationships.
- Develop and execute a Sales and Marketing plan that outlines specific sales strategies to achieve defined goals.
- Meet or exceed all established sales goals.
- Maintain and monitor production of all top accounts.
- Evaluate trends within the marketplace and react appropriately.
- Understand and keep up to date with industry and competitive landscape.
- Have superior understanding of rate mix management, and actively participates in weekly revenue meetings.
- Monitor inventory and rate availability.
- Make sales appointments and cold calls to consistently prospect accounts for all direct sales segments (corporate, leisure, long term stay, etc.).
- Prioritize, document, and organize work to meet deadlines.
- Establish and maintain a culture of success centered around effective sales tactics.
- Effectively collaborate and consistently communicate with the General Manager, Revenue Manager, and Management Company staff to ensure there is strategy alignment.
Work Environment
This position will be located at a hotel and primarily work behind a desk but will occasionally be in banquet spaces during events.

Travel
No travel is expected for this position. Travel for annual training and conferences may be required.
Required Education and Experience
- College degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5+ years sales experience, preferably in a hotel capacity.
- Select, Focused, or Extended Hotel Stay experience preferred.
- Previous supervisory experience required.
- Strong organization and presentation skills.
- Must be able to work independently and simultaneously manage multiple tasks.
- Must be outgoing and a proven self-starter.
- Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and proper insurance coverage for business related travel.
- Must be fluent in English.
