Accountable To: Corporate Director of Human Resources
Status: Exempt
Rate: $69K - $73K (Employer est.)

Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain thorough and current knowledge of all Human Resources/employee regulations and laws, and ensure that the property is in compliance.
  2. Participate in EEO, Unemployment, Wage & Hour, Worker’s Compensation, OSHA, ADA, Immigration and Naturalization Service hearings. Implement policies and programs to guarantee Safety compliance.
  3. Communicate new policies, information, and directives to all employees.
  4. Instruct staff in interpretation of HR policies and procedures.
  5. Ensure staff compliance with HR policies and procedures.
  6. Maintain employee benefits programs.
  7. Recommend and/or approve all employee transitions, i.e. new hire, transfer, promotion, etc.
  8. Maintain open door policy.
  9. Conduct training classes.
  10. Update and submit required reports in a timely manner.
  11. Participate in and monitor safety committee in compliance with Loss Prevention SOP’s.
  12. Ensure compliance with all HR related Loss Prevention SOP’s.
  13. Establish and maintain safety incentive program.
  14. Become a certified trainer in all current HR training modules.
  15. Maintain Monthly Employee of the month (Employee of Month/Year) program, and monthly employee engagement.
  16. Practice positive employee relations, including coaching, counseling & discipline.
  17. Develop and maintain “no cost” benefit programs.
  18. Participate in and monitor orientation programs.
  19. Assist associates whenever possible with requests and/or information.
  20. Understand the hotel product and brand identity.
  21. Meet and exceed customers’ and co-workers’ expectations by providing excellent service and teamwork.
  22. Keep supervisor fully informed of all problems or matters of significance.
  23. Complete work projects as assigned by supervisor and management.
  24. Achieve a high workforce productivity with high customer service satisfaction.
  25. Attempt to answer and satisfy the associate with his/her concern so that he/she does not have to wait or make an appointment with Human Resource Director.
  26. Create or update Human Resource bulletin boards and other posting locations as needed.
  27. Assist with employee relations events and recognition, as needed, e.g. Anniversary Awards program, hotel brand required meetings, etc.
  28. Explain elements of various benefits to associates as required. Assist with distribution of enrollment forms of benefits such as: medical, dental, vision, Life and Disability insurance, Flexible Spending accounts, 401k and Paid Time Off.
  29. Assist with filing and monitoring Worker Compensation claims and alert all relevant parties of any associate’s modified work duties.
  30. Coordinate the preparation of employee orientation, training sessions, and employee morale programs or events.
  31. Meet with new employees to review new hire paperwork for accuracy and completeness.
  32. Manage employee records, files and database with accuracy.
  33. Track all required employee certifications such as CA Food Handlers Certification and maintenance licenses.
  34. Assist with the creation of training manuals, HR manual and employee handbook.
  35. Assist in recruitment by managing job postings, scheduling interviews and evaluating candidates.
  36. Assist with creation, distribution and collection of feedback from company-wide annual survey.
  37. Assist with providing research for policies, training, strategic planning, and other human resource issues.
  38. Assist in preparation of special events and other office or company gatherings.
  39. Assist with providing compliance in all areas of human resources.
  40. Adhere to company policies and procedures.
  41. Adhere to location appearance guidelines.
  42. Act with a sense of urgency.
  43. Ensure managers are using coaching, counseling and discipline to address issues/concerns.
  44. Condense and expedite paperwork, develop internal communications, improve record keeping.
  45. Develop and maintain suggestion box program.
  46. Plan and edit employee newsletter.
  47. Manage all personnel files.
  48. Manage resume and application files.
  49. Ability to follow up and ensure completion of unresolved tasks.
  50. Demonstrate ability to understand and effectively implement written and verbal instructions.
  51. Strong team orientation and ability to work with a variety of departments to accomplish assigned tasks.
  52. Ability to quickly problem solve and make sensible decisions.
  53. Ability to maintain confidential information.
  54. Excellent interpersonal skills and recognition by others as a respected member of the team.
  55. Must possess excellent attention to detail, a high level of organization, and the ability to multi-task, follow through and re-prioritize well to meet deadlines on multiple projects.
  56. Maintain regular attendance, is consistently on time and complies with all Luxe Hotel standards.
  57. Scheduling flexibility to meet operational needs.
Qualifications:
  1. At least 5 years of progressive Human Resources experience in a hotel or a related industry; or a 4-year college degree and at least 2 years of related experience; or a 2-year college degree and 3 or more years of related experience.
  2. Previous supervisory responsibility required.
  3. College course work in related field helpful.
  4. Familiarity with and knowledge of employment laws required.
  5. Long hours sometimes required.
  6. Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times.
