The Culinary Selling capability is critical to our customer selling proposition because it differentiates our brands vs. competition, strengthening our distinctive category position in the eyes of retailers. In addition, it has a proven track record of contributing to winning outcomes as it relates to securing points of distribution on both core products and new innovation platforms. The Sovos Brands Sales team is seeking to create a true Culinary Selling center-of-excellence that allows this capability to be readily accessible to all customers across our brands & categories. In addition, the Sr. Manager, Sales Process will be a key lead in critical business initiatives. Expertise and end to end planning, process management and cross functional collaboration is critical to success in this role.
Job Responsibilities
Year 1 will be entirely focused on Rao’s Homemade, with Pasta Sauce being the priority
- Create and document in detail the Sovos culinary selling process, including establishing clear ways of working across Sales Strategy and Field Sales; ongoing, ensure culinary selling executional excellence and process compliance
- Partner with the Category Strategy and Customer Marketing functions to create tight linkage between culinary selling and the overall customer selling process
- Thoroughly document all knowledge of culinary selling to ensure sustainability of this core capability into the future, without being reliant on specific individual talent
- Create culinary selling kits which include shopping lists, recipes, plating instructions, and branded tabletop items, to ensure a consistent and efficient approach to all retailer interactions
- Establish “Rao’s University”, with “Sauce College” being the first to launch, to ensure all new hires in the sales, marketing, and R&D functions – as well as agencies, brokers, and other key commercial partners – are trained on brand history, equity, positioning, product attributes, etc.
- Culinary Selling resources also will support key Trade Shows as well as lead content creation around recipes and alternate usage for social media, raos.com, on pack, etc.
- Manage process for key sales strategy deliverables such as selling materials, factsheets, etc.
Skills & Values Requirements
- Experience in process creation and process mapping, inclusive of establishing & tracking KPIs
- Experience executing development & training programs
- Strong communication skills, including public speaking and presenting
- Adept in collaborating across functions and managing stakeholders at various levels in the organization
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment, working on multiple projects and deliverables at once
Minimum Requirements
- 4-year undergraduate degree
- 7+ years of experience in a professional/corporate environment
- CPG Food industry experience strongly preferred
Location Requirements or Preferences
- Montclair, NJ or Remote
- Travel required; estimate up to once a month
Reporting Structure
- Manager, Sales Process reports into the Sr. Director, Sales Strategy who also has responsibility for Customer Marketing and Category Strategy
- Reporting into the Sr. Manager, Sales Process is a Corporate Chef who also has a dotted line into the Sovos Brands R&D organization
