We have an opening for a Vice President (VP) of Finance at our corporate office in Arnold, MO.

The VP of Finance's responsibilities include establishing and maintaining the credit union’s fiscal record-keeping system by utilizing generally accepted accounting principles; adhering to tax laws and regulatory compliance to properly reflect the financial position of the credit union; ensuring that department activities run smoothly and efficiently while in compliance with credit union policies and procedures; providing leadership, training, and supervision of the Accounting Manager and within the department, and delivering a high level of customer relations and service to staff throughout the credit union. The VP of Finance assists in attaining established credit union and department goals and assists the Senior Vice President (SVP) of Finance and Collections in the overall objectives and goals of the credit union and the accounting department.

The ideal candidate will be in the St. Louis/Arnold area and commute to our corporate office.

What will you be responsible for:

  • Assist in coordinating the credit union’s budget management functions and accounting operations.
  • Assess current cost accounting methods and product/branch profitability measures and provide recommendations for changes.
  • Assist the SVP of Finance and Collections in monitoring and analyzing monthly operation results against the budget and communicating/addressing budgetary issues.
  • Prepare month-end reports, manage the month-end closing process, and review month-end results with the SVP of Finance and Collections prior to closing.
  • Create statistical and operational reports, including standing monthly reports.
  • Assist the SVP of Finance and Collections in the preparation of financial statements and financial forecasting, including liquidity.
  • Assist the SVP of Finance and Collections in the preparation of annual audits for the credit union and in correcting/rectifying any audit findings.
  • Prepare data for the Asset Liability Management (ALM)/Internal Rate of Return (IRR) process monthly and serve as a backup for ALM for the credit union.
  • Review and improve existing policies and procedures relating to financial management.
  • Serve as a backup to the Accounting Manager and SVP of Finance and Collections in their absence.
Requirements:


What skills does this position require?

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance. Master’s degree and/or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
  • Seven to ten years of progressive experience in a financial institution
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including macros, pivot tables, SQL tables, loading and manipulating data, etc. required.
  • Must have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must have high regard for details to ensure accuracy with each transaction and follow through on corrections and details.
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost control principles, financial and accounting reporting systems, and federal and state regulations
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.
  • Must have a working knowledge of short- and long-term budgeting and forecasting.
  • Excellent professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
