The General Ledger Accountant position will support our month end close process as well as be responsible for providing timely and accurate financial information for the business. They will maintain the integrity of accounting records for the purpose of compiling and reconciling accounting and operational information for Verbio North America, LLC and its affiliated entities of the group. This is a full-time salaried position reporting to the Head of the Accounting.
Key responsibilities:
- Support month-end and year-end financial close processes in accordance with US GAAP, Canadian GAAP, and IFRS.
- Prepare monthly journal entry accruals, and record other adjustments as needed.
- Prepare monthly balance sheet account reconciliations with appropriate supporting documentation.
- Record bi-weekly payroll and accrual entries.
- Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with Group reporting requirements (IFRS).
- Support external audit and tax return preparation requests.
- Assist Tax Accountant in the completion of HST/GST returns, Sales & Use Tax returns, & Fuel Tax filings.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- 3-5+ years of experience in Accounting of a Manufacturer, ideally in the biofuel or oil & gas industry.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting.
- Strong understanding of all areas of general ledger accounting of a production company, including tracking and reporting financial transactions that are unique to the production process, inventory management, cost accounting, and asset capitalization.
- Cost of Goods Sold and Inventory Accounting.
- Production Cost Accounting.
- Revenue Recognition and Sales Accounting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Knowledge of ERP systems, preferably Microsoft GP.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
