The Employment Specialist is responsible for teaching the Culinary Training Academy’s Life Skills class, building relationships with local employers, and supporting participants of the Joseph McFee Center & the Culinary Training Academy with job placement and retention.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Culinary Training Academy:

  1. Teach the Culinary Training Academy’s Life Skills class, schedule guest speakers, employment-related outings, and special projects for participants.
  2. Community outreach and engagement to promote and recruit for the program.
  3. Attend hiring events and job fairs.
  4. Build relationships with community-based organizations and local employers.
  5. Assist with day-to-day administrative work, data entry, and tracking, fiscal processing, tracking job placements, retention, and maintaining participant records.

Joseph McFee Center:

  1. Host Job Readiness Workshops.
  2. Maintain relationships and make appropriate referrals to other service and training providers.
  3. Other related duties as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent (required).
  2. CA driver’s license (required).
  3. Bachelor’s Degree (preferred).
  4. Experience as a job developer working with justice-involved, formerly homeless, or adults in recovery programs (2 years preferred).
  5. Experience providing employment-related case management, career readiness, and employment retention services.
  6. Experience with Microsoft programs.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  1. Ability to lead.
  2. Team player.
  3. Understanding of the special employment needs of diverse groups.
  4. Ability to work with a diverse population.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. (usually file boxes).

  • Modern Office Equipment and Relevant Software.

Qualifications

Education:

  • High School or Equivalent or better (Required).
  • Bachelors or better (Preferred).

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Driver's License (Required).

Experience:

  • 2 years: Experience providing employment-related case management, career readiness, and employment retention services (Preferred).
  • 2 years: Experience as a job developer working with justice-involved, formerly homeless, or adults in recovery programs (Preferred).
