JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare room and necessary tools for procedures.
• Obtain the proper scope from the scope cabinet
• Make sure that the scope is within the acceptable time frame, as per the blue date tag
• Connect the scope to the scope computer
• Make sure to press the "perform/release" button or the lamp will not light.
• Open scope pack on mayo stand
• Fill container with sterile water
• Place biohazard tag on outside of scope pack drape
• Insert suction/insufflation buttons into scope
• Make sure to depress buttons when they are submerged in water. This helps prevent the buttons from getting stuck when in use.
• Connect irrigation and suction tubing
• IF for first procedure, replace irrigation tubing and bottle of water. Make sure to label date and time bottle is opened.
• Open lubricating jelly packet onto topmost 4x4 gauze pad
• Assist the surgeon with the procedure as needed

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

• High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required
• BLS certification required. Preferably from American Heart Association
• 0-1+ years of experience in GI lab or Ambulatory Surgery Center performing Endoscopy
• Must understand English both written and spoken, must be able to perform job-related functions safely and successfully, with reasonable accomodations as may be required by federal, state, or local law
