Position : Junior Controller
The hospitality group behind the acclaimed New York City restaurants, Llama Inn and Llama San is expanding its footprint with the upcoming Papa San, a Peruvian Izakaya set to open in Feb 2024 on 34th Street and 10Th Avenue (in The Spiral building). We are currently looking to hire a talented and experienced Junior Controller to start on or around December 2024..
Description:
Directly report and support the President & DOO with all financials related work as it relates to Papa San & Amenity Cafe in the same building.
This position is to work under the DOO’s guidance and is expected to work alongside an offsite bookkeeping company that handles all of the financials (A/P, A/R, Financial reporting, Payroll, Tax preparation & data analysis).
In addition, this position is expected to serve as a resource to both management and associates, directing to applicable internal contacts and tools as appropriate. They are expected to guide financial decisions by developing and monitoring policies and procedures and adherents to set annual budgets. This position will also be responsible for helping with some manual payments ( ACH, Wire and or via debit cards)
This position will be Monday – Friday with a required 5 days a week on-site presence. The work schedule for this position is flexible but around 8-10 hours per day depending on the workload.
The Junior Controller will oversee the below:
General Tasks
- Communicate daily with President & DOO as it relates to any financial standings, transactions and or changes that need to be corrected or flagged for further investigation
- Monitor business cash balances & execute any ACH, Wire or intercompany account transfers
- Review and approve all large financial purchases with multiple managerial departments
- Communicate daily with multiple departments on any financial query & plan of actions for cost savings initiatives
- Monitor & review all financial data reports with bookkeeping agency
- Responsible for continuous improvement of accounting and finance processes
- Responsible for analyzing sales date
- Responsible for overseeing multiple departements inventories and accurate submission of such inventories
Monthly & Weekly Financials report
- Responsible for overseeing all month-to-month accounting functions inclusive of accounts payable reports, accounts receivable reports, cash deposits reconciliation etc.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly financial statements by completing the below:
- monthly company credit card allocations & debit card reconciliations
- Reconcile Intercompany accounts expenses & revenues
- Ensuring that monthly statements are being recorded appropriately against the annual budgets set & that monthly financials are being shared in time with all corresponding parties
- Ensuring that weekly reports are being generated in time and that appropriate departments are flagged for any out-of-range cogs %
Purchases & Payments
- Approve weekly payables payments via bookkeeper portal for food, beverage and operational expenses
- Initiate and execute on any bank related transfer either intercompany or external
- Assist with monitor large purchases, approval or execution via debit or bank details
Requirements:
- Full-time flexible hours are required (able to workdays) & commute within venues
- Exceptional communication and organizational skills.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar stature
- Ability to efficiently communicate with ownership & multiple departments
- Self-motivated individual who takes initiative
- Understand basic accounting terms and is able to communicate with bookkeeping firm efficiently
- Some project management expereince preferred
