Duration: Full Time - Permanent

Shift: 8 Hours a day 40 hours a week

Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented HVAC Estimator to join our construction contracting company based in Arlington Heights, IL. The HVAC Estimator will play a key role in calculating and preparing cost estimates for HVAC projects in both residential and commercial construction. This position involves evaluating project plans, reviewing job specifications, preparing budgets, and collaborating with project managers and contractors to ensure accurate and timely bids.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze project specifications, blueprints, and architectural plans to determine HVAC requirements.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates, including materials, labor, and time, for HVAC installations and upgrades.
  • Consult with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors to obtain accurate pricing on materials and services.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to clarify project details and requirements.
  • Identify potential cost-saving opportunities while maintaining project quality and meeting client expectations.
  • Monitor and analyze job costs to provide feedback for future estimates and budgets.
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of bids and proposals.
  • Stay up-to-date on industry trends, HVAC technologies, and local codes and regulations.
  • Review and compare various vendor bids to select the best option for the project.
  • Perform risk analysis and provide advice on potential cost overruns.

MUST HAVE Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in HVAC estimating or a related field, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
  • HVAC Knowledge: Strong understanding of HVAC systems, materials, and labor requirements.
  • Software: Proficiency in estimating software (such as QuickBooks, Jobber, or Procore) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Skills: Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, vendors, and team members.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., LEED, HVAC certification) are a plus.
