Commercial Credit Analyst

Reports to: AVP/Credit Manager
Location: Loan Production and Administrative Offices, Latham, NY
NBC's Commercial Credit Analyst position is stimulating, challenging, and offers the opportunity for growth. Candidates should be capable of formulating logical, detailed, and accurate credit presentations. Expected to work semi-independently with a like-minded group of professionals who directly contribute to the success of the Bank.
The general responsibilities of the position, which are all completed within the framework of Bank policies and procedures, are:

• Perform written analysis of new commercial loan applications, with a focus on ability to repay, collateral adequacy, guarantor credit, and structure of the transaction;
• Identify strengths and weaknesses of particular loan requests;
• Synthesize information in order to form a logical conclusion, from which you can base a recommendation;
• Determine the level of risk associated with extending credit to a particular Borrower using logical reasoning in combination with a risk rating matrix;
• Ability to work collaboratively with Loan Officers when underwriting their deals;
• Perform annual reviews;
• Remain current on changes in economic and market conditions that could affect credit risk.
• Perform other duties as needed within the department.

Necessary Skills, Training, and Dispositions:

• 1-3 years of experience in commercial credit analysis preferred;
• College degree in finance, business, math, or related field;
• Strong computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office Suite. Candidates should have confidence using Microsoft Excel/Word and have the aptitude to quickly learn new programs, such as financial spreading software and the Bank's core system;
• Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. This position involves presenting your recommendations to Senior Management and the Management Loan Committee;
• Self-motivation is key in this position. Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines is essential;
• Aptitude to assume responsibility and accountability for decision-making is a must.
