Job Summary:
Reporting to the Transportation Coordinator, a casual driver provides transportation services to University employees, students, and visitors for University business and events using University vehicles (i.e. sedans, minivans, or 12-15 passenger buses).
This is a casual, non-benefits eligible position that will be scheduled to work on an as needed basis.
Job Duties:
A Driver in Transportation Services is responsible for driving university vehicles to transport university constituents around campus, to downtown Lewisburg, local hotels, airports, and/or other areas as assigned with a distance of no more than 300 miles one way from campus.
Additionally this position:
• Operates a university-owned vehicle in a safe, reliable, professional manner, providing safe and efficient transportation to the university community and its visitors.
• This position requires the ability to travel to large airports such as Newark, JFK, BWI (as examples) and in large city environments.
• Provides information and other general assistance to the university community and its visitors.
• Maintains records of work performed.
• Makes timely reports of accidents, incidents, and unusual occurrences.
• Assist passengers in boarding, loading luggage and exiting vehicles if necessary
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Other duties include:
• Checking email at least once a day for communications from the Transportation Coordinator.
• Attend meetings and training sessions as Transportation Services has scheduled.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Driver has availability during daytime hours from 8am-5pm.
• Driver must be 21 years or older.
• Demonstrate ability to safely and efficiently operate a loaded passenger bus (up to 15 passengers including driver).
• Candidates must pass a University Motor Vehicle Record Review (MVR) upon employment.
• Must have a minimum of 1 year driving experience with a vehicle that weighs over 10,000lbs.
• Must possess a valid United States driver's license, valid for a minimum of 2 years.
• Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and able to follow instructions pertaining to particular routes.
• Demonstrate ability to understand and follow safety procedures.
• Within 30 days of hire: candidates will be required to obtain a D.O.T medical card and pass Behind the Wheel training.
• Must be dependable, professional, and personable and have the demonstrated ability to work with and serve in a diverse environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Is familiar with Bucknell and the surrounding area.
• Has working knowledge of Workday for time-keeping.
• Has working knowledge of Microsoft and Google applications.
Other Requirements:
• Each driver will be required to work all large university events as needed (i.e. Admissions Open Houses , Family Weekend, Reunion, Commencement), as well as, additional driver requests while being flexible/available to work all shifts - days, evenings, and weekends throughout the year.
• Each driver will be required to work at least one (1) five -hour shift for the off campus shuttle from 12pm-5pm or from 5pm-10pm per week during the academic year.
Physical Demands:
• Must be able to lift items up to 50lbs.

The offer rate will be based on a review of the candidate's credentials compared to the qualifications of the position, internal equity, and our overall compensation philosophy.
