As we approach the end of the year, I can feel things beginning to slow down. As projects are completed, planning for 2024 is underway. For me, I'm in the asset-building stage for my main clients, creating vision boards and scripts for website and social media videos to be launched early next year. While things are slowing down, I am utilising my free time to generate content for my own brand and keep my creativity sharp! Here is a cover of "You Can't Catch Me Now" from the new Hunger Games movie - The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.Recorded in Cubase Pro with Rode NT1-A mics,Shot on Sony Alpha,Processed in DaVinci Resolve Studio,Piano & Mix by Kailesh Reitmans The challenge was to generate engaging and popular content without spending too much time! The idea of using a window with curtains as a diffused & silhouetted backlight has been on my mind for a while, so it didn't take very long to execute! I set up my mic, tested the shot, and filmed in only one take! The additional vocals were created solely by ear and took around an hour of experimenting before I settled on the sound I wanted!Processing in DaVinci was fun - there is nothing that a bit of film grain and halation can't solve when creating a nostalgic style. If you like it, show it some ️

Let’s be honest, artists and creatives are simply not appropriately resourced in America, and because of these limited resources, it is likely that any given person working on a project is running more than one or potentially all of the following: creative direction, fundraising, production, documentation, marketing, costuming, sound design, the list goes on and on and on and on…Check out our August blog post "A Practical Guide for Artists Who Do Too Much" by our Account Manager, Eliza Malecki, for her tips for staying cool, calm, collected, cared for, conscientious, and CREATIVE as an artist:

Some time ago, even before audio-reactive and automated synchronization of audio and video information became possible, I did it manually in an audio editor. Honestly, I still sometimes indulge in this custom analog approach. This is part of the audiovisual development for a museum application aimed at bringing contemporary art paintings to life. Point your phone at it, and voilà!That these were the first experiments in this field many years ago.And do you usually use a washing machine, or do you sometimes trust your hands more?#sounddesign #digitalart #musicproduction #bvoice #audiovisual #museum #application #manually_synchronisation #sound_production

Can your sound library keep up with your imagination?Having access to a basic library is a good start, but we see too many teams who settle for “good enough.”I’m reminded of something sound artist Stephan Schütze once told us.To paraphrase:“Having access to the broader world of sound effects allows me to sonically capture any conceivable scenario, emotion, or story.”Sounds pretty nice, to be able to create without compromise. So, how does your library stack up?Check out our Sound Library Checklist to find out. Link in the comments below!#prosoundeffects
