Position Overview:
The Manufacturing Institute (MI) is seeking an innovative, team-oriented communications professional to serve as its Content Manager as part of its Content Support team. This position has been recently created to bolster the organization’s content deployment strategy by integrating the function internally to work more closely with its team of program professionals. This role is responsible for development and management of all content across the organization’s social media channels and websites as well as creating short-form content for its digital newsletters and other channels.
The position serves an important role in expanding how the organization communicates insights to a wide array of stakeholders as well as our overall presence in key markets. The Content Manager will be responsible for promoting opportunities to access reports, key findings as well as events on an array of topics including the MI’s program portfolio and manages the strategy for regularly disseminating information and impact summaries to segmented audiences.

- Working at the direction of the Senior Manager of Workforce Insights to develop and promote accessible content to a diverse set audience across an array of digital channels.
- Developing and deploying social media messages and newsletters as part of a comprehensive editorial calendar that helps to share actionable workforce solutions, promote opportunities for external stakeholders to engage in the MI’s events and highlights learnings to support the recruitment, retention and upskilling of the manufacturing workforce.
- Managing project-based social campaigns, promotional plans and identifies and leverages new opportunities to highlight the impact of the organization’s work.
- Overseeing social media tactics to grow and expand the engagement of key audiences for the organization’s primary social media channels, as well as several sub-brand channels for the organization’s key programs.
- Coordinating with communications and brand strategy professionals from the organization’s affiliate, the National Association of Manufacturers to ensure editorial and social content aligns with the MI’s brand strategy and leverage the most effective tactics.
- Working closely with the MI’s team of workforce experts to plan and develop regular email newsletter publications that highlight key findings from the MI’s work and ways stakeholders can engage in the organization’s initiatives.
- Updating and curating the organization’s website with current content and information.
- Developing custom roll out plans to highlight and share key updates from the MI’s programs and projects.
- Utilizing analytical tools to measure the reach of the organization’s digital tactics and evaluate the performance of social media and digital marketing campaigns to continuously optimize future tactics.

We are looking for Ambitious Candidates who meet the Following Criteria:
- Professional Experience: At least 3 years of relevant experience in the fields of digital strategy, social media management, communications and/or marketing. Ideally with a portfolio or case studies demonstrating successful social media campaigns or initiatives. Experience working in non-profits is preferred.
- Strong Communication Skills: Proficiency in writing and editing content that is engaging, clear and brand-appropriate. Ability to communicate thoughtfully and effectively across different social media platforms.
- Creativity and Innovation: Demonstrated ability to create original, eye-catching content that resonates with the target audience. Should possess a knack for storytelling and visual communication.
- Social Media Expertise: In-depth knowledge of various social media platforms (such as LinkedIn, Facebook, X, Instagram, YouTube, etc.), their algorithms and best practices. Familiarity with social media management tools (like Sprout Social) is also essential.
- Marketing Skills: Understanding of digital marketing strategies, including content marketing, SEO and online advertising. Ability to align social media strategies with broader marketing goals.
- Analytical Skills: Proficiency in analyzing social media metrics and insights to gauge content performance and audience engagement. Should be able to use data to inform strategy and decision-making.
- Experience with Content Creation Tools: Familiarity with basic graphic design and content creation tools (such as Canva, Final Cut Pro) to quickly produce high-quality visual content.
- Adaptability and Trend Awareness: Ability to stay up-to-date with the latest social media trends and adapt strategies accordingly. Should be able to experiment with new features and trends to keep the content fresh and engaging.
- Strategic Planning: Experience in developing and implementing social media strategies that align with the organization’s objectives and brand voice.
- Time Management and Multitasking: Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines efficiently. Should be organized and able to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Teamwork and Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively with other team members and understanding of organizational goals and the priorities of internal departments, to develop cohesive campaigns and content is essential. Candidates must operate well in small collaborative teams and possess high-levels of customer service acumen focused with the ability to interact regularly with staff, vendors, and other stakeholders.
- Organization and Judgment: The ability to complete complex assignments with high levels of independence and provide guidance to other members of the organization in a project management capacity. Able to occasionally travel to a small number of planned events the organization hosts across the country.
- Technical Expertise: Proficiency in MS Office programs and SharePoint required. Familiarity with Salesforce and Asana is a plus.

- Good communication and interpersonal skills. Relationships are important! You will be growing, supporting, and strengthening (and sometimes repairing) relationships all the time.
- At least some experience with and a working knowledge of the Microsoft productivity suite—specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint; but also, SharePoint, Teams, and Outlook.
- A team-oriented attitude with a developed customer service focus. We rise and fall as a team and our work is for others (our “customers”) and often informed through relationships.

Salary Range: $70,000 - $85,000 annually. This salary range represents a good faith estimate of the lowest to the highest salary for this position. The final salary offered will be based on qualifications and experience.
