Job Description - R&D Technician/TechnologistThis position demands creativity and collaborative hands on work to design, assemble, operate and optimize prototypes for Mid-Stream processing equipment.The candidate should be able to translate conceptual ideas into functional pilot prototype equipment for testing and evaluation, assist in determining the data requirements and provide the appropriate methodology for collecting and analyzing performance data under a wide range of conditions.Role requires excellent mechanical, electrical, and electronic repair skills, and a commitment to safety and quality initiatives. A strong background in practical mechanical, electrical, and chemical engineering is essential.Skills:The candidate should have demonstrable working knowledge, experience, and proficiency with many of the skills below:Understanding standard Oil, Water, and Gas production processes and operations.Standard Oil, Water, and Gas processing technologies and techniques.Operating, and maintaining complex mechanical systems, laboratory equipment, industrial scale process equipment, and small-scale pilots.Instrumentation and control systems, PLCs, and PLC programming.Process Sensors. (Temperature, Pressure, Level, Flow, pH)Standard industrial communication protocolsEthernet networking principlesHydraulic and pneumatic systems and equipmentProcess piping and pressure vessel codes and standardsLow and medium voltage electrical systems and equipment.Industrial process equipment, valves, pressure vessels, and pressure piping.AC and DC electrical circuitsElectrical codes and standardsGenerating and interpreting process, electrical, and instrument wiring diagrams.Mechanical assembly.Standard process operation practices, and procedures.AutoCad, Visio, MS Word and ExcelStandard Chemical Laboratory operations and protocols.Standard mechanical workshop operations and safety protocols.Troubleshooting mechanical, electrical and process systems.Key Responsibilities:Design and Development:Complete the design and assembly of pilot systems and prototypes, translating conceptual ideas into functional equipment for testing and research.Prepare detailed project budgetsPrepare realistic project schedulesAssist project manager for design, construction, and installation phases of pilot or prototype development.Size, select, and purchase equipment, and materials for pilots and prototypes.Manage vendors on equipment sizing, design, operation and service.Generate and interpret process, electrical, and instrument wiring diagrams.Develop and document operational procedures to guide research engineers in utilizing testing equipment.Communicate with contractors on work scope and review quotations.Supervise and guide contractors.Supervise and train internal employees on processes and operations.Assist client or internal operations teams in the field occasionally.Operation and Maintenance:Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory and process equipment, such as pumps, heaters, industrial instrumentation, and control systems.Maintain and manage PLC equipment and applications.Ensure safe operation of multicomponent, and multi system, mechanical, electrical or chemical prototypes, and pilots.Take ownership of testing campaigns, from planning through execution and analysis, to optimize prototype performance and assure data accuracy.Troubleshoot problems occurring with pilots and prototypes and work with the Research Engineering team to address unexpected resultsTechnical Documentation and Communication, including test results.Assist in writing and maintaining standard operating procedures (SOPs) and train team members as needed.Safety and Risk Management:Evaluate projects for operational and safety risks and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.Advise management on performance risks.Maintain good housekeeping practices and manage inventory of tools, equipment, and consumables.Company policy is to provide every individual a fair and equal opportunity to seek employment and advancement at the Company without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, national origin, citizenship, genetic information, veteran or military status, disability, creed, ancestry, pregnancy (including pregnancy, childbirth and related medical conditions), marital status or any factors protected by federal, state, or local laws.
