We’re looking for Middleware Technology Manager to join our ever-evolving Middleware & Database team to help us unleash the potential of every business.

What you’ll own

A leadership role in managing middleware technologies overseeing a team of middleware administrators and engineers responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining middleware technologies within an organization. As a leader in this capacity, your responsibilities may include:

  • Strategic Planning: Develop and communicate a strategic vision for the organization's middleware technologies aligning initiatives with business goals and objectives.
  • Team Management: Lead and manage a team of middleware administrators and engineers, providing guidance, mentoring, and support to ensure the team's success and professional development.
  • Project Management: Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of projects related to middleware platforms, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Middleware Architecture: Design and implement scalable, secure, and efficient IBM and Oracle middleware platforms, including deployment, automation, and security solutions.
  • Vendor Management: Collaborate with vendors, senior leaders and service providers to evaluate and procure hardware, software, and services for middleware technologies, ensuring alignment with organizational requirements.
  • Compliance and Security: Ensure that middleware complies with industry regulations, security best practices, and organizational policies, conducting audits and implementing controls to mitigate risks.
  • Performance Optimization: Monitor and analyze middleware platform performance metrics, identify opportunities for optimization, and implement measures to enhance the efficiency and reliability of the platform.
  • Incident Response and Problem Resolution: Lead the response to middleware system incidents, troubleshoot complex issues, and coordinate with the team to resolve problems promptly and minimize impact on operations.
  • Training and Development: Provide training, coaching, and professional development opportunities to team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth within the organization.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Communicate with key stakeholders, including IT leadership, business executives, and Application teams, to provide updates on middleware platform initiatives, address concerns, and solicit feedback to improve services.

You’ll own it in our Worldpay hub locations in Cincinnati, Denver, Atlanta, or San Francisco.

What you bring

  • Experience: Several years of experience in middleware administration, engineering, or related roles in a Global organization. Experience managing IBM WebSphere, IHS, MQ, Apache, Tomcat, and Oracle WebLogic is essential across multiple platforms.
  • Leadership and management skills: Strong leadership qualities, including the ability to inspire, motivate, and guide a team of IT professionals, are crucial for this leadership role. Experience in team management, mentoring, performance evaluation, and conflict resolution is important.
  • Technical expertise: In-depth knowledge of middleware platforms, middleware design, install and administration, and security concepts is essential for this leadership role. Hands-on experience with platform upgrade, certificate management, performance tuning is valuable.
  • Project management: Experience in project management, including planning, budgeting, resource allocation, and stakeholder communication, is important for overseeing technology initiatives and ensuring successful project delivery.
  • Communication skills: Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential for effectively communicating with team members, stakeholders, executives, and end users. The ability to articulate technical concepts in a clear and understandable manner is important.
  • Problem-solving abilities: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are crucial for addressing complex technology challenges, troubleshooting technology issues, and making informed decisions to drive middleware platform improvements.
  • Strategic thinking: A strategic mindset, with the ability to align technology initiatives with business goals, develop long-term technology plans, and identify opportunities for innovation and optimization, is important for a leadership role.
