Job Summary

As a Data Science Intern, you will work alongside our data science and machine learning team to support key business initiatives across the organization. Your primary responsibilities will include assisting in conducting experiments, exploratory data analysis, and developing machine learning models to address business challenges. You will collaborate with data scientists and subject matter experts (SMEs) to solve business problems and will have opportunities to present your findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. This internship provides hands-on experience in a dynamic and innovative team environment.

Essential Functions

  • Prototype machine learning models and conduct EDA for potential use cases.
  • Learn and apply best practices in data science and machine learning.
  • Develop hypotheses and design experiments to confirm or reject them.
  • Assist in model testing while also learning about model versioning & other key MLOps aspects.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and contribute to internal discussions on novel approaches.
  • Collaborate and maintain codebases using standard version control and GIT principles.
  • Communicate progress or challenges during team meetings and throughout each sprint.
  • Write clean, maintainable code following software engineering principles and team standards.
  • Actively learn from and contribute to the team while developing your skills through mentorship and guidance from senior members.

Education Description

  • A senior or master's student expecting to graduate by the end of the spring semester, pursuing a degree in a STEM field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related discipline.

Experience

Basic understanding of SQL and familiarity with relational or NoSQL databases. Some experience programming in Python through coursework, projects, or internships. Strong problem-solving skills and a demonstrated ability to work with complex datasets.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience with machine learning libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch) through coursework or projects. Good understanding of statistical concepts and their application in real-world problems.
