The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

Under the supervision of AC4 Director and the Program Director for Partnerships, the Student Admin Worker will provide support for communication, coordination and community building of the transdisciplinary network at CU working on peace, conflict and sustainability. The incumbent will help in delivering and strengthening communications and coordination for AC4 Network Hub, the Earth Networks Committee and supporting content production, promotion and outreach, and social media strategy. In addition the student casual will work closely with AC4's Associate Director and Program Director for Partnership on outreach and engagement with potential partners.

Responsibilities

  • Communications Management
    • Fielding and tracking general inquiries.
    • Writing, reporting and distributing information via blog posts, mailings, and social media for our hub activities and signature projects.
    • Drafting and generating content for website and social media.
    • Providing event planning and logistical support as needed.
    • Supporting on marketing materials and promotion.
    • Updating and maintaining contact with offices, centers, and student groups at CU that could provide info relevant for network hub activities, e.g., events mailings.
    • Contacting and updating faculty, centers, departments, etc, in database as is relevant.

  • Engagement
    • Attending on Earth Networks CRISP for Climate Overshoot Meetings, network meetings and meeting with various centers to build partnerships and support for the Network.
    • Working with the Program Director on for Partnerships on event and outreach for the network.

  • Data Management and Research
    • Gathering new, relevant information about current faculty, professors, studies as needed.
    • Analytics on our social media channels.


  • General Operations & Administrative requests as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Applicant must be currently enrolled at Columbia University.
  • Ideal candidates will have a background in journalism and/or communications with an interest in sustainability.
  • Interest in contributing to the field of sustainability, peace, conflict resolution and sustainable development at Columbia University.
  • Familiarity with Columbia departments related to sustainability.
  • Excellent writing, editing, verbal presentation skills; social media fluency.
  • Comfortable with outreach and marketing including emails, social media and in-person.
  • Experience with data management.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Familiarity with WordPress, Mailchimp, and social media channels.
  • Capacity to develop a social media strategy.

Other Requirements

Time Commitment

  • Weekly commitment of 10 (min) to 21 (max) hours per week.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings with AC4 Associate Director and monthly meeting with AC4 Director.
