Position: Engineer II


Role Overview: The Engineer II will work closely with Project Managers and project teams to manage gas pipeline and station engineering projects from planning and design through construction and closeout. This role involves assisting various professional teams depending on the project stage and interacting with clients to report progress and forecast costs and schedules. The Engineer II is responsible for engineering and design tasks, including establishing design criteria, selecting materials, and sizing equipment in compliance with relevant codes and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and Specifications: Develop specifications and drawings for assigned projects, including design calculations.
  • Project Development: Review client requirements, project proposals, and plans to develop project objectives, estimates, and responsibilities. Confer with Program Managers, Project Managers, and client representatives.
  • Pipeline and Facility Design: Design oil and gas pipelines, metering facilities, gas compression facilities, liquid pump stations, gas processing, dehydration units, heaters, filter separators, and slug catchers.
  • Hydrostatic Testing: Design hydrostatic tests for pipeline segments, replacements, and stations. Review historical documents, verify test boundaries, and identify potential obstacles.
  • Engineering Support: Perform pipe sizing calculations, valve sizing, hydraulic design, compressor and pump designs, and interact with regulatory and permitting agencies.
  • Material and Equipment Specifications: Specify materials and equipment for purchase, write equipment specifications, and use data sheets as needed.
  • Project Management: Review design, specifications, and status reports. Plan and schedule changes, recommending actions to ensure projects stay on time and within budget while meeting client specifications.
  • Compliance: Ensure project compliance with government regulations, safety rules, and company and client policies.

Education and Experience:

  • Degree: Bachelor of Science in Engineering required.
  • Experience: At least 2 years of experience in gas distribution engineering and related fieldwork.
  • Knowledge: Thorough knowledge of P&IDs and industry codes and standards (ASME/ANSI/API/NFPA/CSA codes, including ASME B31.3, B31.4, B31.8, 49 CFR 192 & 195).
  • Licensing: PE license is a plus.
