The Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging at UCSF is seeking a postdoctoral fellow interested in quantitative imaging and data science with application to breast cancer diagnosis and treatment. The fellow will join the Breast Imaging Research Program and work as part of a multidisciplinary team of scientists and clinical researchers developing image acquisition and analysis methods using MRI and dedicated breast PET. The postdoctoral fellow will participate in NIH-funded studies under the direction of Principal Investigator Dr. Nola Hylton and Co-investigators to improve the clinical utility and raise performance standards for breast MRI and breast PET. The fellow will be involved in multi-institutional clinical trials and phantom studies to standardize measures for longitudinal monitoring of treatment response. The position will interact with the I-SPY 2 TRIAL Network, UCSF Breast Oncology Program, and UCSF Center for Intelligent Imaging.
Job Requirements:
The position requires a PhD and/or MD degree in biomedical engineering or related field. The ideal candidate should have expertise in medical image processing and analysis. Knowledge in breast imaging acquisition methods (MRI, mammography, ultrasound, and/or PET) and clinical trials is highly desirable. The candidate should have experience in advanced image analysis techniques as well as a working knowledge of biostatistical methods applied to medical imaging. Experience using software packages R and Python is essential. Experience with machine learning, predictive analytics, and data visualization methods is highly desirable. This position requires a highly motivated individual with excellent verbal and written communication skills. The postdoctoral fellow will be responsible for publishing research findings in scientific journals and presenting their work in scientific meetings. In addition to research activities, the postdoctoral fellow will be expected to mentor predoctoral students and staff and participate in training activities for undergraduate students, medical students, and visiting scientists.
