The Project Manager, Contract Line Maintenance position is responsible for overseeing the training, routine and overnight maintenance work performed by Maintenance Providers on Spirit Airlines aircrafts.
- Serves as the primary liaison between Spirit Tech Ops and the Maintenance Provider.
- Continuously monitors the quality, status, and cost of the maintenance services being provided.
- Oversees the workmanship's quality and compliance with applicable Spirit Airlines requirements and standards, and FAA regulations.
- Reviews and approves all non-routines generated during inspections, modifications, repairs, etc., for method of corrections, estimated labor and materials.
- Participates in investigative activities in partnership with the Maintenance Provider.
- Participates in process improvements with the Maintenance Provider to drive improvements in quality, span and cost.
- Coordinates with Fleet Planning Material Services and the maintenance planning the readiness for maintenance performed by the maintenance provider.
- Liaisons with the Materials Department, Engineering, Maintenance Programs, Aircraft Records and Maintenance Planning departments for production continuity, recommends corrective actions.
- Advises the contractor (145 Repair Station) of impending changes requested by Maintenance Planning, changes to the General Maintenance Manual and any Spirit Airlines policies and procedures.
- Maintains a professional, positive, productive working relationships with the Maintenance Providers and other departments.
- Performs all duties as applicable within the scope of the company approved and accepted manuals to include the General Maintenance Manual (GMM), and the Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and Airworthiness Directives (Ads) as applicable.
- Reviews and completely understands the Spirit General Maintenance Manual.
- Reviews and completely understands the Airworthiness Agreement document generated for each maintenance provider.
- Provides initial training to all DTE’s at vendor stations and assists the Maintenance Training Department with any new and required training for the Maintenance Provider.
- Reviews and approves all vendor invoices.
- Handles all contract negotiations and drafting of agreements.
- Preforms station audit visits at all contract maintenance stations.
- Reviews and investigates all station delays and cancelations at stations where Spirit Airlines utilizes a Maintenance Provider. Coordinates with Maintenance Control and Station Operations for any changes or corrections that need to be made.
- Monitors and investigates Contract Maintenance Difficulty Reports.
- Attends training as required.
- May perform other responsibilities as assigned. Responsibilities and duties may change when circumstances dictate (e.g., emergencies change in workload, rush jobs or technical developments).
- Bachelor's Degree or Aviation Maintenance/Aviation Management experience required.
- 5-7 years' experience in Aircraft Maintenance required.
- FAA Airframe and Powerplant license required.
- 1-3 years of experience in a leadership position preferred.
- Thorough Knowledge of 14 CFR part 25, 43, 145 and 121 regulations and other regulatory requirements within an airline environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with advanced systems.
- Understanding of aircraft system operation and ability to assist in troubleshooting.
- Preferred Experience with A320 FAMILY CEO & NEO aircraft and systems.
- Ability to read and interpret the AMM (Aircraft maintenance manual), EMM (Engine maintenance manual), CMM (component maintenance manual) and SRM (Structural Repair Manual).
- Ability to read and interpret Service bulletins and other supplier documentation.
- Knowledge of aircraft performance monitoring, understand the impact to line operations.
- Keep abreast of safety, performance, reliability, and durability issues within the fleet and industry.
- Monitor key performance metrics to identify areas of nascent problems Ability to clearly articulate and communicate, verbally, in correspondence, and in written reports for complex technical, procedural, and business procedures.
- Ability to identify and resolve process constraints and continuously improve all fleet leasing and aircraft maintenance processes.
- Contract negotiation skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, multi-tasking and relationship building abilities.
- Attention-to-detail, strong analytical, organizational and time-management skills.
- Stays current with aircraft fleet knowledge, systems and operation.
- Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Power Apps, Microsoft Lists, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
- Knowledge of logistics concepts; inventory management experience.
- Skilled in managing competing and multiple priorities and meeting deadlines; works well under pressure.
- Demonstrates technical proficiency in areas of responsibility and applies procedures, requirements, regulations, policies, and standards related to a specialized area of knowledge or experience.
- Exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
- Domestic & International travel approximately more than 50% of the time.
- Must be present at the Worksite 100% of the time.
