The Cloud Marketing Data, AI and Digital Applications organization at Microsoft leads commercial marketing efforts across our Data, AI and Dig App solutions. This Senior Product Marketing Manager role within the Analytics Marketing team will play a vital part in ensuring we continue to differentiate our solutions in the industry with programs, go-to-market strategies, and long-term marketing plans.

As a Senior Product Marketing Manager, you’ll partner closely with engineering, sales, partners, business planning, and other teams to build messaging and programs, influence roadmap and execute go-to-market plans that drive adoption and grow this very exciting market. This is a unique and exciting opportunity for an experienced marketer to be embedded in Microsoft’s Analytics team. We are looking for a product marketing leader who thrives on bringing marketing vision and structure to deliver innovative products and solutions to market and consequently grow our business.

The ideal candidate will be a high-impact, high-energy marketing professional and will be responsible for growing Azure Consumed Revenue (ACR) from on-premises customers and new customers in yet untapped industry markets. The candidate will influence the product strategy and marketing execution of a set of compelling analytics solutions utilizing skills such as market and opportunity analysis, maturity and adoption technology curve modeling, business development, business models, partner marketing and development of compelling business value propositions.

This is a highly visible role in a here-and-now hot space that will require working closely with internal stakeholders, engineering, content SMEs, integrated marketing, area PMMs, account teams, technology specialist teams and partners to define, deliver, and streamline product content, marketing and communications. An ideal candidate for this role will have experience in product strategy and demonstrated experience in structuring marketing plans, product planning, and content development. You should be comfortable in a start-up environment, ready to take on multiple responsibilities, and adept at conceptualizing and achieving ambitious goals. Understanding of cloud technology, the analytics and governance market, outstanding communication skills, and bias for action are critical for success in this role. Being obsessed with outside-in view of customer experience with both strategic and execution marketing chops is important.

Responsibilities

Analysis of Customer and Market Signals

  1. Leads engagements with other stakeholder teams, customers, and the field to understand customer/partner needs and identify investment priorities (e.g., marketing, feature sets, sales resources).
  2. Develop insights from market or user research, competitive analyses, and market and industry trends to design Microsoft’s Go-to-Market strategies and create a differentiated value proposition.

Product Vision and Strategy

  1. Contributes to or influences the long-term vision and strategy for a product and/or solution based on a deep understanding of customer needs, market and user research, competitive landscape, and Microsoft’s business goals and strategy.
  2. Knows how to partner with Business Planning, Branding, and Engineering to impact the roadmap and defines the metrics that capture the market and customer engagement opportunity.
  3. Influence senior partners in delivering the right product experience in alignment with defined direction.
  4. Determines the long-term market opportunities and breakthrough features.
  5. Establishes trusting relationships with stakeholders.

Value Prop Positioning, Messaging, Bill of Materials (BOM)

  1. Collaborate with others to develop insights from market or user research, competitive analyses, and market and industry trends to drive Microsoft’s Go-to-Market strategies and create a differentiated value proposition that aligns with customer goals.
  2. Identifies key customer reasons to buy, retain, and grow, and creates customer messaging within customer teams.
  3. Drives the development and framework of messaging and positioning with stakeholders and managers.
  4. Creates demos to assist Go-to-Market and field teams.

Product Marketing and Business Performance

  1. Facilitates the building and execution of marketing plans and strategies across functions to achieve product revenue goals.
  2. Has a basic understanding of the multi-faceted drivers of product revenue and employs strategies across the entire market experience (price, channel, product, promotion, etc.) to meet revenue goals and make adjustments where needed to improve gaps.

Cross-Functional Orchestration

  1. Develop partnerships (e.g., Marketing, Partner, SWE, Design, Services, Sales) to lead and deliver differentiated customer value and company growth.
  2. Drives initiatives and programs across teams to improve and meet organizational goals.
  3. Shares demonstrated best practices to relevant stakeholders to improve product marketing and business performance.
  4. Drives impact through other teams.
  5. Embody our culture and values.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 5+ years experience in business
  • OR Master's Degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 3+ years experience in business
  • OR equivalent experience.

Additional Or Preferred Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 8+ years experience in business
  • OR Master's Degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 6+ years experience in business
  • OR equivalent experience.

Product Marketing IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $101,200 - $194,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $130,000 - $213,200 per year.
