Overview:
The Director of Distribution will be responsible for leading various initiatives related to operational strategy and business processes for overall distribution to include order fulfillment, warehousing, inventory management, transportation, and ERP systems. Establishes KPIs and sets performance metrics for all distribution functions in alignment with company objectives, mission and values and within regulatory guidelines.
Responsibilities
  • Safety - Leads by example, sets strong expectations around both risk management and compliance to corporate and local requirements. Stays informed on all OSHA, DOT and other governmental regulations.
  • Strategy -Provides vision and direction to all distribution center leaders and hourly employees through effective programs and policies, personal contact, and mentoring of key staff.
  • Oversight - Coordinates and oversees all distribution activities including service performance, labor utilization, trucking and international shipping activities, and distribution network effectiveness.
  • Analysis - Works with both their team and the broader business to analyze opportunities for service improvement, network optimization, distribution footprint, and cost improvement activities.
  • Continuous Improvement - Drives a culture of continuous improvement in all functions. Maintains a high level of performance while always looking for the next opportunity to execute upon.
  • Budgeting - Manages the logistics and distribution budgets, including costs for new projects and proposals.
Requirements
  • Excellent ability to prioritize and address the most pressing issues get accomplished first.
  • Proven ability to negotiate skillfully to arrive at agreements that benefit the company.
  • Create and maintain safety programs that lead to safe work environments
  • Strong attention to detail so that mistakes aren't made, and operations thrown off course.
  • Comfortable with Enterprise resource planning (ERP) software/ WMS
  • Excellent computer skills related to database management software - information management tool, such as Microsoft Access, that assists with the storage of data for reference and analysis.
  • Advanced knowledge of systems to produce detailed spreadsheets and profiles of financial or production activity, often composed and edited in Microsoft Excel.
  • Proficiency in supply chain activities and knowledge of all aspects involved in moving a product from supplier to customer.
  • BS degree in logistics, supply chain, business administration preferred
  • 12- 15 years of demonstrated expertise in warehouse and transportation practices.
  • Expertise to manage multi-facilities in multiple countries.
  • Proven ability to process improvement initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of warehouse KPI's.
  • Strong decision making and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% including internationally as required.
