POSITION: Daycare Director

Hours: Monday-Friday; 7 AM to 6 PM; Flexible and varied

General Description:

The Daycare Director must ensure that the child-care center’s daily operation is administered in compliance with the minimum standards. The Daycare Director must maintain that all employees comply with the minimum standards, have assignments that match their skills, abilities and training. Complete supervision of staff monthly in classroom setting and interactions with children. Supervision includes but is not limited to, time management of employees and ensuring that they fulfill their assignments and responsibilities.

Director must have knowledge of good business practices, administration and child development as well as able to hire and maintain employees, establish and maintain communication with parents and ensure the health, safety and well-being of the children in their care. Director must be able to demonstrate competency, good judgement and self-control in the presence of children and when performing assigned responsibilities. Director must be able to relate to children with courtesy, respect, acceptance and patience, along with being able to recognize and respect the uniqueness and potential of all children, their families and culture.

Ensure that no child is abused, neglected, or exploited while in the care of the center and report suspected abuse, neglect and exploitation to DFPS as specified in the Texas Family Code, 261.101. Director must be able to interact with children in a positive manner, foster developmentally appropriate independence in children through planned but flexible program activities. Foster a cooperative rather than a competitive atmosphere. Show appreciation of children’s efforts and accomplishments. Ensure continuity of care for children by sharing with incoming caregivers’ information about each child’s activities during the previous shift and any verbal or written instructions given by the parent. Applicant must be able to lift 50 pounds.


Qualifications:

Must have at least three (3) years of experience in a licensed childcare center. Orientation in a childcare center as required by Minimum Standards 746.1303. Must have supervisor experience. Must have or obtain 24 clock hours of pre-service training, Pediatric first aid with rescue breathing, Pediatric CPR, 30 Clock hours of annual training as required by Minimum Standards 746.1311 of this division (relating to what areas of training must the annual training for my childcare center director cover). A valid Texas Driver’s License with driving record to comply with CFLR is essential. If selected for this position, employee must give CFLR authorization to request copy of driving record as well as all required prescreens and background checks. Must be able to satisfactorily complete required staff development training. Applicant will also go through Childcare Licensing Pre-screening process prior to being hired.


The Center for Life Resources prefers applicants who are already living in or willing to move to the 7 county catchment area within 90 days of their hire date. Our catchment area includes the counties of Brown, Eastland, Coleman, Comanche, San Saba, Mills, and McCulluch.
