ABOUT PUSH: Preparing Urban Students for Success in High School and Post-Secondary Education was developed to improve high school and post-secondary completion rates, emphasizing college/trade institutions. We help students develop a collegiate and professional identity, career goals, and an understanding of the connections between post-secondary education, training, and job market competitiveness. PUSH is also a year-round program designed to advance Boston students with opportunities to increase their academic skills and develop their voice in advocacy and leadership for effective change in their world through mobilizing their peers and community.
ABOUT THE POSITION: The PUSH Manager of High School Programs and Partnerships is a critical member of a growing team of professionals committed to the success of urban students in Boston. The Manager oversees the coordination and administration of the PUSH High School program, including planning, organizing, and often leading program activities, working in close coordination/collaboration with the Boston Public School system. The position includes managing a team of a High School Success Specialist and Mass Promise Fellows while implementing services, partnerships, data collection, and evaluation. The Manager of High School Programs and Partnerships will be a member of the organization's Senior Leadership Team and will coordinate with the PUSH Manager of Post-Secondary Programs & Partnerships and the Manager of Career Development and Civic Engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manages coaches: prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff is trained; ensuring that employees follow policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy and safe working environment.
- Oversee the implementation and evaluation of high school programs that support student success in academic achievement, college readiness, and leadership development.
- Ensure the effective integration of the PUSH model across all high school programs.
- Collaborate with partners to enhance program delivery, resource sharing, and student support.
- Represent Freedom House in meetings with external partners, ensuring our programs align with broader community goals and initiatives.
- Foster a positive and collaborative team environment that promotes professional growth and development.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback to staff.
- Engage with students and their families to build strong relationships and ensure their needs are met.
- Develop, facilitate, and coordinate workshops, events & college tours relevant to program goals.
- Ensure proper data collection and maintenance of student and program progress using Salesforce.
- Collaborate with PUSH College Manager to connect students to post-secondary and opportunity youth programming.
- Participate in all Freedom House staff meetings and annual fundraising events.
- Support the grant writing and reporting process for programs when necessary.
- Ability to work some evenings and occasional weekend days.
Summary of Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 3 years in program leadership and administration.
- Highly organized and visionary leader with a passion for seeing young people from diverse backgrounds succeed in high school and life.
- Experience with supervision of professional staff.
- Demonstrated knowledge of youth development, social service delivery, and college access and success strategies.
- Experience directly working with youth and familiarity with diverse urban school districts, preferably Boston Public Schools.
- Ability to fluently navigate and cultivate partnerships and collaborate effectively with different stakeholders within and outside of the organization.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to analyze data, address trends, and make connections to systematic policies and challenges.
