The Senior Energy Projects Advisor supervises, evaluates, develops, conducts the negotiation and administration of energy projects and services for internal and external customers by promoting the use of Southwest Gas (Company) assets as a medium to improve the environment. This position takes an active role in researching, developing and evaluating emerging technologies, energy services and energy efficient programs that will ensure the long-term viability and value of the Company’s assets. This position ensures departmental objectives get achieved by providing internal and external customers with systematic support and knowledge in a variety of roles including project management, budget management, contract management; and promotes and supports proper adherence to policies and procedures, adherence to industry codes and standards and adherence to energy efficient programs, energy efficient design and installation. This position will develop and manage energy related projects both inside and outside of Southwest Gas certificated service territory. These duties will be performed in coordination with various other Corporate or Division departments as required. This position advises on environmental and sustainability related matters to ensure the Company remains relevant and the use of the Company’s assets receive consideration as part of any organization’s overall environmental and sustainability program.POSITION DIMENSIONSThis position may have up to three non-exempt and/or exempt employees reporting to it.QUALIFICATIONSThere are clear precedents and practices that the incumbent uses as guidelines to determine how this job is performed. This position requires five to eight years professional experience plus a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Engineering.Master of Business Administration, Master of Engineering or professional certification (Professional Engineer, Certified Energy Manager, Certified Energy Auditor, Certified Energy Procurement Professional or similar) is preferred.ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIESSupervise and administer Company policy and procedures in all Company operating divisions as it relates to emerging technology and innovation, energy efficiency, greenhouse gas reduction, biogas, renewable natural gas, compressed natural gas and hydrogenDevelop plans and procedures for demonstrating the benefits of emerging technologies to internal and external customersEvaluate emerging technologies for performance, safety, cost and use of Company’s assets to compete with alternative energy technologiesDevelop incentive programs that promote the use of emerging technologies and low carbon energy sources that utilize the Company’s owned assetsAdvise customers on how the Company’s assets may be used as part of a customer’s diverse energy portfolioDevelop projects and services that will allow for the Company to cost effectively procure low-carbon energy suppliesDevelop partnerships with energy producers and suppliers, equipment vendors, and engineering procurement and construction companiesPromote the use of emerging technologies to improve a customer’s overall energy efficiencyProject manage energy related projects on behalf of the customerStrategize with internal customers on the development of tariffs and legislation to promote the use of emerging technologies best served by Company’s infrastructureDevelop strong propositions that will help the Company and customers tap new emerging markets and expand into existing onesDevelop strategies for continued use of Company’s assets to address customers’ carbon emissions reduction goalsPromote the use of emerging technologies and services that will help customers increase their Environmental, Social and Governance positions in the marketplaceDevelop service offerings to customers that will help a customer address their carbon emissions and climate changeDevelop employees through mentoring, training, and involvement with professional and industry-related organizations. Take leadership roles in organizations relevant to promoting the use of the Company’s assetsCoordinate the execution of approved service agreements and other binding documents between customers/contractors and the CompanyRepresent Southwest Gas while increasing overall knowledge of emerging energy technologies by impactfully participating in organizations, conferences and committees to network and interact with other industry expertsCollaborate with Company internal departments including Engineering Services, Gas Supply, Energy Solutions, Regulatory, Public Affairs, Customer Engagement as well industry support organizations and agenciesClearly communicate opportunities and challenges in a timely manner to ManagementPerform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.Regular and predictable attendance is a condition of employment and is an essential function of the jobSALARY DETAILS:Tucson and Valley District: $100,510 - $150,765Phoenix and Tempe: $105,800 - $158,700At Southwest Gas, attracting the best talent is key to our strategy and success as a company.
