We foster an inclusive culture and are looking for diverse, talented people to join Alcon. As a Sr. Engineer supporting the Global Technical Services Team , in Lake Forest, CA, a typical day will include:

  • Subject matter expert and Technical Services Lead for one or more Alcon product lines.

  • Designing serviceability into product design: Product service engineers work with product development teams to design products that are easy to maintain and repair, reducing the need for costly service interventions.

  • Participate on cross-functional product and process development core teams. Provide Direct feedback to R&D for technical issues observed in field to ensure continuous product improvement.

  • Documentation and Training: Create detailed service documentation, such as service manuals, troubleshooting guides, knowledgebase articles, and training materials, to support field service engineers and customer support teams. Conduct training sessions to ensure the successful implementation of service processes.

  • Creating service processes and tools: Design service processes and develop tools to streamline the repair and maintenance of products while minimizing cost to Alcon.

  • Field Support: Provide technical support to field service engineers during product installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting activities. Act as a technical escalation point for complex service issues, ensuring timely resolution and customer satisfaction.

  • Responsible for providing timely and accurate feedback to the Technical, Clinical, Quality, and R&D teams on product field performance. The responsibility includes ensuring corrective actions are implemented as needed to address observed issues in the field.

  • Designing service product support plans and product launch packages that will (1) enable in-house service teams to be ready to support new products by established launch dates and (2) allow for regional service teams to understand all key product support recommendations for locally supporting newly launched products.

  • Service Design: Design and develop service plans, including installation, maintenance, and repair processes, for the new medical devices. Ensure these plans are user-friendly, efficient, and compliant with industry regulations and quality standards.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +13 yrs.; Assoc.+9 yrs.; M.S.+2 yrs.; PhD+0 yrs.)

  • The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English

  • 5 Years of Relevant Experience

  • Work hours: 40 hours

  • Travel: Up to 10% Domestic or Intl.

Preferred Experience:

  • Education with a focus on biomedical engineering or medical device technology is preferred.

  • Proficiency in CAD software and technical drawing tools.

  • Experience with project management and cross-functional collaboration.

  • Experience troubleshooting and resolving complex issues on medical devices.

  • Electrical/Electronic, Mechanical, and Optical Systems level training.

  • Experience Installing, maintaining, and repairing medical device equipment.

  • Experience with networked products and installing medical devices in networked environments.

  • Experience with Medical device lasers and laser safety.

  • Experience with Remote Troubleshooting using phone and remote desktop tools (TeamViewer, LogMeIn, etc.)

  • Proven experience in service design/engineering for medical devices or complex technological products.

  • Strong understanding of medical device regulations and standards, such as FDA guidelines and ISO 13485.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to analyze complex technical issues.

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey technical information clearly and concisely.

  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to delivering high-quality results.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
