Job Requirements / Description

The position will be an internship position for a PhD student in Statistics (starting 3rd year). The Research Scientist Intern will support the Insure AI Research Scientist team on conducting academic research related to distribution-free uncertainty quantification of machine learning models, false discovery rate control under different multiple hypothesis testing settings, and related topics. The position will be based in Palo Alto, USA. The position will involve travel to Munich Re Munich once or twice during the internship.

The requirements are:

  • PhD student (starting 3rd year) in Statistics
  • Research in uncertainty quantification, robust predictive models, causal inference, and statistical modeling
  • Very strong mathematical background
  • Strong programming skills in Python or R, demonstrated by experience in developing research or production-level code
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a team distributed over time zones and geographies
  • Ability to travel to Germany during internship
