Responsible for the safe collection, handling, and processing of hazardous waste, regulated medical waste, and other regulated waste materials for the University of Texas at Austin campuses following all regulatory requirements and internal procedures. This includes communicating effectively with internal customers to coordinate waste collections, address procedural waste management issues, and report waste management issues to senior staff or management as needed.Maintains accurate up-to-date records of the collection, storage, and disposal of hazardous waste, regulated medical waste, and other regulated waste materials following all regulatory requirements and internal procedures. Participate in the review and development of standard operating procedures with direct oversite from senior staff or management. Responsible for conducting inspections, monitoring, and testing of sites, and the collection environmental samples under the direction of senior environmental staff to comply with permit requirements of storm water, wastewater, SPCC, PST and other environmental programs.Continuous education through internal cross-training, external courses, and attending conferences or seminars where applicable.Responds to environmental health and safety issues, complaints, and emergencies including hazardous/non-hazardous spills, odors, contamination, and injuries/exposures. Must be able to accurately gather information related to the potential impacts to the environment, personnel, or facility safety and clearly communicate findings to senior staff or management. Must be able to assist in resolving incidents and may perform incident investigations with direct oversite from senior staff or management. Drive University vehicles. Maintain acceptable driver rating as established in Policy: UTS157 Section 2.5.4.
