UVA Health is seeking a full-time Board Certified/Board Eligible Hematology Oncology Physician to join their growing team! The successful candidate will be a key player in delivering comprehensive cancer care to patients in our community and supporting the expansion of oncology services at UVA Health. This position offers a unique combination of access to an UVA NCI-designated Cancer Center and the resources of a top-tier tertiary/quaternary medical center, all within a supportive Virginia community. The role provides significant community engagement, seamless integration with local hospitals, and the opportunity to actively shape and grow a growing oncology practice.
Responsibilities:
- Patient care includes providing consults, ongoing treatment management, and follow-up.
- Reviewing diagnostic tests and imaging results.
- Manage infusion services and monitor patients during treatment.
- Participation in tumor boards, research, and Quality Improvement initiatives.
- Work closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure a seamless patient experience from initial diagnosis through survivorship or Palliative Care.
- Occasional inpatient rounding.
Practice Setting:
Our group consists of three MDs, support from APPs, clinic nurses, patient navigators, and other support staff including Social Workers, Nutritionists, Palliative Care, and Hospice providers. Most time will be spent at our Gainesville Cancer Care facility, with occasional services at affiliated hospitals. The patient population is diverse, reflecting a mix of urban and suburban demographics, with a growing demand for oncology services.
