Job Description
The Pharmacy Technician supports the Pharmacist in issuing medications and conducting inventory of stock levels. The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for preparing medications for patient consumption under the general supervision of a licensed pharmacist and in accordance with standard departmental procedures. Under the supervision of the Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician may measure, mix, count, label, and record amounts and dosages of medications according to prescription orders.
Key Responsibilities:
Receive written prescription or refill requests and verify that information is complete and accurate.
Maintain proper storage and security conditions for drugs.
Retrieves, pours, counts, weighs, measures, and sometimes mixes medication.
Support inventory and quality control.
Performs administrative functions such as answering phones and stocking shelves.
Prepares prescription labels, selects the type of container and affixes the prescription and auxiliary labels to the container.
Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
Actively participates in Mass Casualty exercises and events.
Performance of other duties as assigned.
