The Opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Project Engineer for our Transportation-Construction Management Practice in the Austin, TX area.

The Senior Project Engineer will help manage the field inspection of roadway and bridge transportation projects as well as the internal workings of a satellite office. The candidate will be working under the Project Manager on an Express Bridge Project in Houston. Responsibilities include investigation and review of field conflicts, reviewing and responding to RFI’s, developing traffic control plan revisions, reviewing and developing change orders, reviewing construction schedule submittals and client coordination. The Field Engineer will prepare and submit progress and final estimates, check engineering calculations, interpret contract documents, ensuring contractor compliance with plans, specifications and contract documents and assist in the organization and assignments of inspection staff members. Microstation and/or Bluebeam experience is desired.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university
- A minimum of 10+ years’ experience with major road or bridge construction inspection
- PE License required
- Experience reviewing and responding to RFIs and change orders
- Ability to assist with and resolve field issues and ensure inspection quality
- Valid Driver License with a good driving record
- Ability to obtain any required certifications and pass appropriate qualifications tests for the position in specified time frames
- Ability to sit, stand, climb, bend, twist, or stoop frequently and for prolonged periods of time
- Ability to reach horizontally as well as vertically for required tasks
- Ability to use construction or inspection safety equipment including fall protection
- Ability to lift and/or move you to 50 pounds
Preferred Qualifications:
- 10+ years’ experience working in Construction Field Engineering
- Experience working on TxDOT projects
- Possess a can-do attitude, and willingness to take on challenges
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently with guidance from the PM
- Experience with Microstation, Bluebeam and/or P6 scheduling software
