Duties:

  • Plan and conduct examinations using extensive knowledge of accounting techniques and investigative audit techniques
  • Evaluate priority issues and provide feedback throughout the examination process
  • Collaborate with practice areas, examiners, Counsel, Appeals, and other specialists to develop significant tax compliance issues
  • Conduct independent examinations of complex tax returns filed by individuals and business organizations
  • Identify and investigate activities or transactions designed to hide or conceal income
  • Conduct examinations of the largest and most complex exempt organizations
  • Prepare statutory Notices of Deficiency for complex un-agreed cases

Qualifications:

Requirements include a CPA certificate or a bachelor's degree in accounting with relevant coursework. You should also have at least one year of specialized experience at the GS-12 level, including interpreting and applying Federal tax law and analyzing financial transactions. Experience in negotiations and effective interactions with a broad range of individuals is also essential.
