Girl Vow, Inc. is a city-wide nonprofit organization founded on the principle of gender-focused intensive mentorship for girls and gender expansive youth aged 12 to 24 impacted by foster care, juvenile justice, and poverty. The organization aims to provide girls and gender expansive youth with the foundation and support they lack through comprehensive, intensive mentorship, crisis management and aftercare, life skills workshops, and leadership opportunities. We work with girls at any stage of the juvenile justice process, and we are currently in secure and non-secure facilities throughout NYC, including Rikers Island and upstate prison’s. Within the last year, we wrote legislation that was signed by the governor to establish a taskforce for missing and murdered women and girls of color. The law became effective March 26th, 2024.
Girl Vow is seeking a part-time minimum (25 hours per week) Development Director to grant write, manage fundraising, all grant programming, and oversee budget and finance. This role is essential to ensuring the sustainability and growth of the organization. The person in this role will work closely with the Executive Director and other key stakeholders to ensure that financial and program goals are met.
Responsibilities:
Fundraising Management:
- Develop and implement fundraising strategies to meet financial needs.
- Develop and maintain relationships with donors, sponsors, and funding organizations.
- Plan and coordinate fundraising events.
- Prepare RFP’s for funding and sponsorship opportunities.
Grant Program Management:
- Identify and research grant opportunities that align with Girl Vow’s mission.
- Manage the grant application process, including writing proposals, submitting applications, and following up with grantors.
- Ensure grant compliance and reporting requirements are met.
- Maintain recordkeeping of grant-related documentation and correspondence.
Budget and Finance Oversight:
- Support the Executive Director in developing and maintaining the organization’s annual budget.
- Monitor the organization’s financial performance, recommending necessary adjustments to ensure budget goals are met.
- Prepare financial reports and statements for the Executive Director.
- Comply with financial policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field.
- 10+ years of experience in grant writing and fundraising, with a non-profit program management background.
- Familiar with the youth development landscape in New York
- Experience with budget management and financial reporting.
- Proven track record of successful fundraising, grant management and project management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
